A few years ago, a guy I know kept calling himself lazy.
He had goals.
Big ones.
Business.
Body.
Money.
But every time it came down to the one task that actually mattered…
he’d suddenly “need a break”.
Or he’d reorganize his desk.
Or answer emails that weren’t urgent.
Or scroll for “inspiration”.
From the outside?
Procrastination.
From the inside?
Something else.
And here’s what most people never admit:
Sometimes procrastination isn’t laziness.
It’s fear.
Not fear of doing the work.
Fear of doing the work…
and proving the voice right.
The voice that says:
“What if you try and still fail?”
“What if you’re not built for this?”
“What if they were right about you?”
That voice didn’t appear out of nowhere.
For some people it sounds like an old teacher.
For others it sounds like a parent with standards that were never humanly possible.
For others it’s just years of “almost” making it.
So what happens?
You delay the one task that could actually move your life forward.
Because as long as you don’t fully try…
you never fully fail.
It’s twisted.
But it feels safer.
And safety always wins against potential.
Until one day he realized something that hit harder than any motivational speech:
The people who once judged him?
They’re not in control anymore.
He is.
And every time he postpones what matters,
he’s choosing the old version of himself over the man he says he wants to become.
That’s when the belief shifted.
Procrastination wasn’t a time problem.
It was an identity problem.
He wasn’t avoiding the task.
He was avoiding redefining himself.
And that’s uncomfortable.
Because redefining yourself means you don’t get to blame the past anymore.
You don’t get to say “that’s just how I am.”
You decide.
And that’s heavier than any deadline.
So let me ask you something:
If tomorrow morning you had to act like the version of you who already achieved your goal… what’s the first thing he would do that you’ve been avoiding?
And if you’re serious about not just “having goals” but actually building them the right way…
This is exactly why Guided Missile Goals exists.
Not motivation.
Not hype.
Structure.
It helps you define your targets in a way that removes vagueness, removes emotional noise, and makes the next move obvious.
Because unclear goals create safe procrastination.
Clear goals remove hiding spots.
