There's a voice in my head that knows exactly what to say to stop me.

"You're not ready."
"Someone's already doing this better."
"Who are you to think you can pull this off?"

It's sharp.
It's fast.
And it shows up right when it matters most.

Right before I hit publish.
Right before I make the call.
Right before I take the step that actually counts.

But here's what I noticed:

There's another voice.

One that shows up in the quiet moments.
When I'm not performing for anyone.
When it's just me.

"You've done hard things before."
"You're closer than you think."
"Keep going."

Same person.
Same head.
Completely different story.

And that's when it hit me:

Both voices are me.

The one that doubts.
And the one that believes.

The critic and the champion.
Living in the same mind.
Fighting for the same microphone.

And here's the thing nobody tells you:

Neither voice is the truth.

They're both just stories.
Constructed by your past experiences.
Shaped by your fears.
Colored by what you've been told about yourself.

But stories can be rewritten.

Because you are not the voice.
You are the one who decides which voice gets to speak.

You are the narrator.
Not the character.

And every time you take action despite the critic,
you hand the microphone to the champion.

Not forever.
Not perfectly.

But for that moment.
And moments compound.

The critic will always be there.
That's not the goal, to silence it.

The goal is to stop letting it make your decisions.

To hear it.
Acknowledge it.
And move anyway.

Because courage isn't the absence of that voice.
It's taking the step while it's still talking.
