Without even looking at the screen,
my thumb hit ignore.
“I’ll call back later,” I told myself.

Hours slipped by.
The day kept pulling me forward.
And then, finally, I checked the number.
Not a spam call.
Not a random unknown.
Someone who actually matters to me.
Someone I want to hear from.
And right then… something sank in my chest.
A quiet little punch of guilt I didn’t expect.
Here’s the uncomfortable truth:
What we prioritize reveals what we value.
We tell ourselves we’re choosing the urgent thing.
The important thing.
The “let me just finish this first” thing.
But sometimes,
we’re choosing noise over connection.
Busyness over presence.
Tasks over people.
Not because we don’t care…
…but because we forget.
That missed call hit me harder than I expected.
A reminder that life isn’t made of notifications, deadlines, or perfectly productive afternoons.
It’s made of people who reach for us.
People who think of us.
People who dial our number because we matter to them.
And sometimes, one conversation
has more impact than a full day of “being busy.”
