THE FOLLOW-THROUGH SERIES — PART 2 OF 3

In my last email, we uncovered why so many routines disappear:

They’re built for the version of you who always has enough time, energy and motivation.

But real life doesn’t always give you perfect conditions.

So your habits need more than one version.

They need a ceiling.

And a floor.

Your habit ceiling is the full version you complete on a good day.

Your habit floor is the smallest version you can still complete when life gets difficult.

For example:

Workout
Ceiling: a full 45-minute session.
Floor: five minutes of movement.

Writing
Ceiling: 1,000 words.
Floor: one honest paragraph.

Meditation
Ceiling: 20 quiet minutes.
Floor: three intentional breaths.

Both versions count.

But they serve different purposes.

YOUR CEILING BUILDS THE RESULT.

YOUR FLOOR PROTECTS THE IDENTITY.

The ceiling helps you improve.

The floor reminds you:

“Even today, I’m still someone who shows up.”

This isn’t about lowering your standards.

It’s about creating a standard that doesn’t disappear the moment your circumstances change.

Because when the only acceptable version is the perfect version…
doing less feels pointless.

And when doing less feels pointless, you usually do nothing.

That’s how one difficult day becomes a lost week.

The floor breaks that pattern.

It gives you a way to remain in motion without pretending every day feels the same.

Small doesn’t mean insignificant.

Five minutes won’t transform your body overnight.
One paragraph won’t finish the book.
Three breaths won’t solve your entire life.

But they keep the door open.

And an open door is much easier to walk through tomorrow.

Here’s your Action Spark:

Choose one habit that matters to you.

Then complete these two sentences:

My habit ceiling is…

My habit floor is…

Make the floor clear, specific and small enough to complete on one of your most difficult days.

Then don’t wait for a difficult day.

Complete it today.

Prove that the smallest version still belongs in your life.

Tomorrow, we’ll finish this series with the part most people miss:

What to do when you don’t complete the habit at all.

Because even the best system won’t prevent every missed day.

But one simple return rule can stop a missed day from becoming another abandoned goal.

What’s the floor version of your habit?

Reply and tell me.

I read every single one.

2 minutes. Your URL. A customer profile worth using.

Most founders can describe their product. They can't describe their customer. Not in a way that actually changes how they sell.

HubSpot for Startups built a free tool to fix that. Paste in your URL, answer a few quick questions, and it generates a structured profile of your best-fit customer. Firmographics, buying triggers, the works.

Takes 2 minutes. No spreadsheet required.
